This Cookie Policy explains how 44Stems (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies on 44stems.com. We aim to keep our use of cookies minimal and transparent.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as your login status or preferences — so you don't have to re-enter it every time.
Local Storage is a similar browser mechanism that stores data on your device without an expiry date. Unlike cookies, local storage data is never sent to the server automatically — it stays entirely on your device.
2. Cookies We Use
We use a minimal set of cookies and browser storage. Here is a complete list:
NamePurposeDurationType
sb-*Supabase authentication session — keeps you logged in across pages.7 daysEssential
44stems-consent-v1Records your cookie consent choice (which categories you allowed). Stored in localStorage. Never sent to our servers.PersistentEssential
44stems-preferencesSaves your UI preferences (theme, quality settings) in localStorage. Never sent to our servers.PersistentFunctional
ph_*, __ph_opt_in_out_*PostHog product analytics — session id, distinct id, opt-in flag. Set ONLY after you grant Analytics consent. Used to understand which features matter and where users get stuck.1 yearAnalytics
Essential cookies are required for the Service to function — you cannot opt out without losing core functionality such as staying logged in. Functional cookies improve your experience. Analytics cookies are loaded only after you grant explicit consent via the cookie banner. Marketing cookies are not currently set, but if we run paid ad campaigns we will request your consent before loading them.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services. Each one is loaded ONLY after you grant the corresponding category of consent via the cookie banner. None of them are loaded if you click “Reject all”.
PostHog (Analytics, opt-in) — product analytics service hosted in the United States. Used to understand how the product is used in aggregate. Privacy policy: posthog.com/privacy.
Stripe (Essential — payment) — loaded only on the checkout flow when you start a paid subscription. Required for processing payments. Privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.
Supabase (Essential — authentication) — provides login, account, and database infrastructure. Required for the Service. Privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy.
In the future, if we run paid advertising campaigns, we may add Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and TikTok marketing pixels. They will load ONLY if you grant Marketing consent. We will update this page before deploying them.
4. Managing Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Below are links to instructions for the most common browsers:
Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Note that disabling the Supabase authentication cookie (sb-*) will log you out and prevent you from accessing your account.
To clear local storage data, open your browser's developer tools (F12 → Application → Local Storage) and delete the 44stems-preferences key.
